After the prize of Citation for Corporate Governance of “The Best Annual Reports Awards” in 2008, the Company won the prize of Honorable Mention in the same award organized by the Hong Kong Management Association (“HKMA”) on 2 November 2009.
HKMA is a non-profit-making organization established in 1960. For the purpose to encourage the publication of accurate, informative, well presented and timely annual reports, HKMA originated “The Best Annual Reports Awards” in 1973, organizes authoritative Panel of Adjudicators to conduct the competition for the participants’ annual reports in accordance with strict criteria yearly. The main judgment guideline on listed companies includes: conformity with the financial reporting standards, conformity with the disclosure requirements of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Companies Ordinance, provision of information relating to corporate governance, general presentation such as design, photographs, graphs and indexing, understandability, summary of past results and highlights, management discussion and analysis, indications of prospects, employee relations and development, promptness of reporting. The 2009 Panel of Adjudicators went through 121 organizations’ annual reports, including the total 42 Heng Seng Index Constituents. Among the 16 winners of “Best Report Award” and “Honorable Mentions”, the Company was the only China-funded enterprise and other winners were the blue-chip companies, governmental-organizations, or quasi-governmental-organizations, who participated in the competition for years.
